Manor’s DT curriculum is creative and practical. Using their imagination and through research, children design and make products that solve real problems in a variety of contexts. It equips children with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary necessary to become resourceful, innovative and resilient in design. It allows children to evaluate and develop a critical understanding of past and present designs.
Our children are encouraged to learn to think to solve problems both as individuals and as members of a team. They are taught to develop creative ideas and make a range of products using a variety of tools. Pupils will engage in designing and making activities, which involve a variety of methods of communication, e.g. speaking, designing, drawing, assembling, making and writing. The children are also given opportunities to critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook.
