A Theatre Visit for Year 5 and Year 6
Year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to watch Marvin’s Binoculars at Stratford East. The school was part of Newham Council’s Cultural Enrichment programme, in partnership with the Youth Empowerment Service.
The production was about the main character Marvin who loves exploring all the parks around his home in London and finding birds, bugs and animals. On his ninth birthday he’s overjoyed – his very own pair of grown-up, pro binoculars! But then something terrible happens: he loses them, and to get them back, he must face the intimidating park warden.
Children joined Marvin, as he discovered wildlife and friendship in the most unlikely places. Touching on themes of racial prejudice, the production was highly engaging and inspired children to explore the outdoors in their local green spaces.
