Children’s Mental Health Week
There’s been a lot happening this week for Children’s Mental Health Week. On Monday the children took part in a special assembly hosted by Lindsay from Blue Peter and Oti Mabusi. As part of the assembly they all ‘reached for the stars’ by setting their own goals that would help them grow emotionally.
On Wednesday, we were visited by the Brighter Futures Wellbeing Roadshow. It was a great event and the children really engaged with the different professionals running the roadshow. All of the activities were planned around the theme of Growing Together and the children particularly loved planting their own sunflower seeds, playing emotion bingo and resilience top trumps.
Talking to the children afterwards showed what an impact the event had. They spoke about how it helped them to think about what helps their mental health and how they can impact positively on the mental health of others’.
“The card game was really fun and helped us think about solutions to problems people may be having.” Divine, 5 Mandela
“Everything needs support to help it grow, plants and people” Isla, 6 Shakespeare
The children also took part in other Growing Together activities in the week, including making support balloons – a hot balloon filled with people who have helped us grow – and changing shapes, where they reflected on their past and future emotional growth.
