At Stratford Manor, our school values of Community, Determination, Excellence, Respect and Responsibility apply to Online Safety. Online Safety at Manor is ensuring that children are aware of the safe use of connected devices but also the responsibilities of all that use it. The education of Online Safety safeguards children – it teaches us what acceptable behaviours there are for the use of the internet and social media but also what we should do should we have a problem online.
Online safety is embedded into the school’s Computing curriculum as well as the wider PSHE curriculum and whole school culture. Every year, the school takes part in the national Internet Safety Day as well as themed assemblies taking place throughout the year. This page is intended to promote online safety and well-being for children, parents and carers.
Together as Partners
It is essential that the school and families foster a culture of openness and willingness to work together with regards to Online Safety. Children should feel confident to be able to express any concern to any trusted adult. We ask that parents ensure they know what their child is doing online and adhere to the guidance and age-restrictions that many social media platforms have. We also ask that parents model safe use of social media platforms as well as setting clear rules about your child’s behaviour online in the same way that you would when not online.
There are a number of resources on this page that may be able to offer you support or provide further guidance.
If you ever have an online safety concern, please do not hesitate to contact the school. Stratford Manor Primary’s Online Safety lead is Steve Buckley – Deputy Headteacher – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead alongside Kate McGee as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
